About Me

Welcome to fourth grade. I am looking forward to an exciting academic year and becoming acquainted with each one of you.  I had a tremendous summer and now I'm prepared to begin our school year

First, I'd like to introduce myself to you.  I was born in Yuma, Arizona on March 21, 195? (perhaps you can guess the missing number) to Tom and MaryLou Bradford.  We lived in Yuma for a brief time, moved to California, but ended up in Phoenix, AZ. I pretty much call myself a native to Arizona since I was born in the state and attended all my schooling here.  I have been teaching for twenty-six years and have enjoyed every year. I graduated from Arizona State University in 1981, my teaching career began with a job in the Paradise Valley School District where I taught Special Education.  The following year I moved to the Deer Valley School District where I have resided ever since.  In Deer Valley, I have taught at four different schools in the areas of Special Education and the regular classroom in grades fourth, fifth, and  sixth.

I am married to a wonderful man named Jeff and have a very special son named Allen.  My other family members are our three dogs named Tonka, Razzie, and Brook.  Tonka is a three year old Beagle, Razzie is a year old terrier mix  that we rescued from the Humane Society and Brook is our rescue beagle from the Arizona Beagle Rescue of Arizona who is one and a half years old.

There are several things I take pleasure in besides teaching.  I am a great fan of NASCAR.  My parents introduced me to racing at a very young age and this love has stayed with me as an adult.  On Sunday mornings you will find me on the couch watching NASCAR and grading papers.  Another sport I¢â¡Ám addicted to is hockey.  This addiction started when my son Allen began playing inline hockey.  We have traveled to many places to watch him play and encourage his sportsmanship.  I also like watching the Coyotes play.  My last passion is camping.  This activity was also introduced to me by my parents and has become an annual event with family and friends.  I truly respect the outdoors where nature blossoms continually just like students.

Starting back to school is a sad and joyful time for me.  I'm sad because I now have to alter my relaxing, non structured days by waking to an alarm clock.  But it's also joyful because I'm anxious to see all my returning students, to meet new students and parents, and design a successful year for all.  My one word of advice to you for a successful year is EFFORT.  Putting forth your best effort in all you do is the key to your success.  Let the school year begin on the right foot with no excuses and lots of effort.
